43-year-old Nungaray of San Jose was under the influence when she ran a red light at Main St. and Orange Ave. and broadsided a van in the intersection.
Witness say her car continued on after the crash and hit another vehicle as well as a traffic light pole.
The van was full of children and 11-year-old girl in the van was pronounced dead at the scene and her 8-year-old sister later died at the hospital.
Two of the siblings a 4-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were flown to Valley Children’s Hospital with major injuries and are listed in critical condition.
Nungaray was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and causing an injury traffic collision while impaired.
On Tuesday, she was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving while under the influence of alcohol causing injury with special allegations of causing great bodily injury to four victims.
