All Kern County bars must close immediately due to spike in COVID-19 cases according to Gov. Newsom


Governor Newsom tweeted out on Sunday “NEW: Due to the rising spread of #COVID19, CA is ordering bars to close in Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, San Joaquin, and Tulare, while recommending they close in Contra Costa, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, & Ventura.”

Mayor Karen Goh said “I’m calling on our residents to protect both our economy and the health and safety of our families. Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe and avoid the need for further business closures. It’s unfortunate that the rising number of COVID cases have resulted in the governor’s action to close bars, Business closures will impact our local economy.”

Kern County has been on the state’s monitoring list sense last week, and on sunday the county reported 138 new cases and two deaths.
