Visalia to open affordable housing units for homeless residents.

Visalia’s Sequoia Village, located on Mooney Boulevard just south of College of the Sequoias, will open by the end of the year. The project received $4.7 million from Home key last year.

Tenants at the sites will be required to pay 30% of their income as rent. While the project will offer case management, job training and other services. The Housing First model that prioritizes putting people on the streets in safe and stable homes.

State legislature approved a $2.75 extension of Home key in September. Once finished, the approved projects will create more than 2,400 housing units for vulnerable Californians, according the governor’s office.
